While in LA for the Wrinkle in Time event, we bloggers were treated to early screenings of some of ABC’s new shows. Deception, airing TONIGHT at 10pm eastern on ABC. We got to watch the premiere episode and interview the creator as well as the magician who came up with the illusions on the show and trained the lead actor (who does like 99.999% of his own tricks on screen).

Here are 6 reasons you should watch Deception on ABC:

Magic

I dunno about you but I love magic and while I love pretending it’s real, I also love knowing how it’s done. I could watch and rewatch Penn and Teller and David Blaine videos till the cows come home. If you’re in to magic….and even if you’re not, really… you’ll dig how it’s used to solve crimes on Deception. They show you how certain illusions were pulled off at the end of the episodes!

Amaury Nolasco

He’s just a cutie and I have had a crush since his Prison Break days. I love his character on the show, too. Adorable and loveable af.

Girl Power

Without giving any spoilers, I’ll say this. There are women in high positions and unexpected positions on Deception. I love it! And adding to the girl power, is multicultural girl power with the main detective! I’m here for women in roles of power, and even in “bad guy” roles as well!

Family Fun

Deception is a great show for the whole family to watch together. Rohan is 5 so a bit young for some of the themes. However, I can totally see a family with a tween son or daughter who’s into magic (or crime-fighting) sitting on the couch together to watch this program.

Team Teamwork!

Whenever we complete something as a family we shout out “team teamwork!” I’m not sure how it started…but it’s silly and fun and helps when we’re all chipping in on a big task. Deception is legit team teamwork from the law enforcement team to the magic production team. They have to work together to get any cases closed, and they do it well!
