When I say “say cheese” I get this face 🙂
We wanted to do something extra special with Rohan for his third birthday. He was in dire need of some one on one mommy & daddy time, with no Kaya interrupting. So, we shipped Kaya to my aunt (where, per my cousin, she brunched on truffle fries lol!
We left Friday evening and headed down to Fort Lauderdale. It’s about an hour away from our house. All afternoon we told Rohan we were going on a very special trip, and he was getting so excited.  About 15 minutes after we started on the road we stopped by the 99c store so I could pick up some cheap coloring books and whatnot for Ro to have in the hotel room.
As soon as we pulled in, he popped up “Is this it? Is this the trip!?!” It was adorable! Poor thing. We broke his heart telling him no.
We had an uneventful drive, thankfully, and since Rohan was sleeping, we just hung out on our balcony and relaxed.
Saturday
I had an interview with the executive chef so I grabbed coffee for the boys and went down. Later we had breakfast and took Ro to the Museum of Discovery, a children’s museum. We heard there was a huge Sesame Street exhibit and since Elmo is Roey’s homeboy, we had to take him.
That museum was SO much fun. Lots of stuff for every age. Kaya would have had a blast too. Rohan ran from exhibit to exhibit playing, learning, and squealing with delight. It was awesome to see. He’s SO curious, I love it. We’ll have to go back since Elmo’s there all summer.
We went back to the hotel and the boys went to the pool while I went to gym. The gym overlooks the pool, so I saw them having fun and was just compelled to join them at the pool.
Dinner was at the restaurant in the Hilton’s lobby, it’s an extension of their outdoor restaurant that’s over the water of the marina. Again John and I enjoyed the balcony while Roey went down for the night.
Sunday
Rohan’s actual birthday started with Starbucks from the lobby. He likes to order “kids hot chocolate pleeeeeese” when we go, but he got a big one today! We lounged in bed while Ro played with some of his lil token gifts.
We ate and the boys went to the pool. I went to the gym and then met up with them. We grabbed a quick lunch at McDonalds… I’ve already told you about my love affair with the Southwest Chicken Salad, with it’s spicy dressing, grilled corn….(i digress)
Ro knocked out so we just checked out and drove back to Palm Beach. When he woke up we were parked at the bowling alley and I showed my boys how it’s done!
Ro was more interested in rolling his vehicles down the alley, than the bowling balls so we hightailed it outta there after one game and went home.
I picked up a quick cake at Publix so we could do an official happy birthday song and have Ro blow out his candles like a big 3 year old boy!
The next day we had another cake with my aunts, gram and cousin so he could enjoy a lil more birthday specialness from everyone else.
That tongue though! He’s ready. LOL
Overall, Ro enjoyed his birthday weekend. He told EVERYONE it’s his birthday and put up his 3 fingers to show them. He LOVED the Museum of Discovery and cried when we had to leave.
(For those in, or traveling to, the Ft Lauderdale area with Elmo-loving kids. Elmo is there from 10-11 each Saturday this summer for a meet and greet with his fans.)
See you later girls!!
