I’m so excited girls!! I’m going to LA to hang out with my new best friends Lulu and Davey! Oh…my bad… they’re Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo to you…::flips hair::
No, but seriously I’m really excited to be attending my first red carpet premiere in general, double joyful that it’s for a movie I wanted to see as soon as I heard about it: Queen of Katwe!
“Queen of Katwe” is based on the vibrant true story of a young girl from the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
Don’t forget to enter the Queen of Katwe Giveaway!
Here’s the trailer….in case you’ve been under a rock:
Full disclosure…the first time I saw the trailer was during a certain time of the month for me, and I legit cried. Those one liners from David’s character really spoke to me. (and I sometimes pick up Kaya and ask her “are you my daughter?”)
Anywaaaaaayy… A group of 25 bloggers were invited to LA for a Disney/ABC press trip and we get to do a ton of cool stuff (as if the red carpet premiere wasn’t enough!)
We will get to meet and interview the stars, the real life inspirations for the film, Phiona Mutesi and Robert Katende. How amazing to have your life turned into a film by Disney!? (note to self: do something movieworthy before I die)
Do you think any one of them will have time to beat me at a game of chess? ::packs mini chess board just in case::
After all the Queen of Katwe goodness, we will be getting some sneak peeks into ABC’s fall line up. (you KNOW I’m psyched for that part too!) We are going to meet folks from the hit show The Middle which comes back on October 11th at 8pm.
We’re going to get to meet the folks from one of the few sitcoms that make me laugh out loud: The Real O’Neals! (Season starts Oct 11 at 930pm) I love this show and in my head it’s what John’s family was like when he was a kid.
We will also get to see the season premier and get all the spoilers for the next season of Once Upon A Time. I’m excited about this but I’m only up to like episode 3 of the very first season in my binge watching…. so I’m going to be lost! However…If you pay me handsomely I may tell you some spoilers* afterward!
I am excited that we will be also getting a sneak peek at the new comedy, American Housewife, because the commercials look crazy funny and I love the leading lady from her work in other shows like Eastbound and Down. She cracked me up. Check it out on October 11th at 8:30!
In addition to all the premiere goodness we’re going to be able to interview the cast members and the producers of the shows! How cool?! Is “will you hire me please?” an appropriate interview question? ::packs headshot and resume from 1999 just in case::
I’m going to be tweeting, and Instagramming, and FBLiving my brains out so follow me and share when you have a moment!
Now…back to business…
What questions should I ask when I interview these awesome people?
*no I wont.
