I feel like I’ve been stalking expedia/cheaptickets/travelocity (etc) for years! It has paid off though. I finally booked our honeymoon trip last week when the price dipped down a delicious $200 per person!
We ended up choosing the Playacar Palace in Playa Del Carmen.
Looks dreeeeaaammmyyy….
Happy to have found this hotel because:
* jacuzzi for 2 in the room (this was one of my only requirements for this trip)
* right at 5th ave (the “main” strip in playa)
* super close to the cozumel ferry
* exchange privileges at all other Palace resorts so we can spend the day in cancun or cozumel
* $1500 free promotion to spend on resort stuff!!
* Awesome free honeymoon package goodies
* Free wifi in the rooms and free calls back home (just in case)
I’m SUPER excited. Things that we wanted to do, like take a trip to Tulum, snorkel and dive in Cozumel, have one of those romantical (yea i said it) private dinners on the beach, take professional pictures on the beach/around the area, and have a couples massage and visit the spa are incluuuuded!!
That’s a hefty load off. And hopefully we’ll be able to upgrade to the honeymoon suite with some of the “Free” money they give us.
Have you been to this or another palace resort? How’d you like it? Know any good restaurants in Playa to recommend?
I stayed at the Sun Palace, and you're going to LOVE it!!! Definitely check out the other resorts. I think we went to Moon Palace to steal their pool. Tulum is incredible, and I would highly recommend going to Xel Ha in Cancun. I can't remember many of the restaurants we went to, but I love real Mexican food so I never cared. So jealous!

I have been wanting to go on a tropical getaway forever but for one reason or another it's been pushed to the side.
I'd love to know how you got the 'freebies'!! My husband and I have been married for two years (although together for 12) and have never taken a honeymoon. Hopefully if not this year, next will be in the cards for us. 🙂

You know I booked the honeymoon package at Excellence even though we had our honeymoon already. The special was similar and they said we just had to show we were recently married in the last 6 months! (We would have just celebrated 6 but the manager at the hotel said its ok)
Andrea – oh man the Sun Palace almost won out because it's kid-free but we have wanted to stay directly in Playa for a while so we opted for playacar.
Rania – you are LONG overdue girl! I didn't do anything to get the goodies lol, it's a promotion that Palace resorts are running right now.
