(yeah, I said done did it!!)
Shonda Rhimes can do no wrong. You know that already…. Greys, Scandal, Dat Murda… Come on!!
For the People is the newest Shondaland production coming to ABC and you are going to love it.
But… you already know that because: Shonda. (FYI we got to meet the creator and executive producer Paul William Davies!)
We got to screen the pilot episode (airing tonight on ABC at 10pm eastern) while in LA for our Wrinkle In Time event and I dug it bigtime.
So this show is about young lawyers working in the “Mother Court” in NYC. We see the inner workings and interesting dynamics of these characters trying to do the right thing, and be stellar ADAs and Prosecuters.
I swore in as well. Dani Faust Esq reporting for duty:
PS: I secretly love shows more when they’re in NYC because I’m always looking at the places like ‘oooh i know that street’ and ‘omg i know that restaurant!’ And then I try to find extras that I know. hahaha
For the People is a smart drama with some feelsy moments and a few chuckles too. Here’s the trailer. You’ll see what I mean:
Here’s the official word from ABC:
Set in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (a.k.a. “The Mother Court”), the new Shondaland series show follows six talented young lawyers working on opposite sides of the law and handling the most high-profile and high-stakes federal cases in the country.
Best friends Sandra Bell (Britt Robertson) and Allison Adams (Jasmin Savoy Brown) serve as public defenders alongside Jay Simmons (Wesam Keesh) and their boss, Federal Public Defender Jill Carlan (Hope Davis). They face off against prosecutors Seth Oliver (Ben Rappaport), Leonard Knox (Regé-Jean Page), Kate Littlejohn (Susannah Flood) and their supervisor, chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Roger Gunn (Ben Shenkman). Our lawyers are joined by Judge Nicholas Byrne (Vondie Curtis-Hall), who rules on some of the court’s most controversial cases, and Tina Krissman (Anna Deavere Smith), the formidable clerk of Court who keeps everyone in line.
The cast was super sweet and fun to talk to. Oh, and their selfie game is on point!!
For the People premieres Tuesday, March 13 at 10|9c. You can see more by searching #ABCTVEvent and #ForThePeople on Twitter. Catch up on the show on demand or online.
