Is it weird that I ordered a baby booktoday?
Well I did. Its a pre-pregnancy book actually and I can’t wait for it to arrive.
No, I’m not preggo. Earlier this year John and I decided to start trying for our little one at the end of next year.
Why did I buy the book then?
Well, because for the last several weeks I have been wholly consumed with the desire to start our family. More than usual. Normally its a low burning flame always on in the back of my mind and heart, but recently my desire has gone well past simple baby fever and has escalated into an all encompassing baby ache.
Everywhere I turn something screams baby at me.
There’s always a cute baby or child or pregnant woman everywhere I go! It can’t be a coincidence that parents magazine and american baby magazine started coming to me in the mail. I never signed up for them! That’s just spooky. And why is it that all the blogs I love and new blogs I “discover” are by pregnant divas or new moms? The universe is throwing baby stuff at me left and right!
I can’t talk to my mom about it because she just says wait as long as u can (she had me at 22 and totally regrets it, I’m convinced)
I can’t talk to john about it (often) because he gets so adamant about our “start date” as if talking about it will somehow magically impregnate me and mess him up with school.
I can’t talk to my old besties because I’m uncomfy sharing certain things with them now (seperate post on that coming later)
So, that leaves you! My wonderful bloggiefriends. Boy am I glad to have you!! I know its super early, but be prepared for baby oriented posts here along with my usual random goodies.
I’m just gunna embrace my babyache sickness and allow it to stick around. Can’t hurt can it? The way I look at it, I have a year to “research” before we start trying. Knowledge is power, right!?
Oh, PS: This is the book I bought –
Have you read it?
I cannot wait for it to get here!
Do you / did you suffer from baby fever? Did you remedy it? And if so, How?!

AWW babies are cute!!! I don't think you're crazy for thinking about babies; you know first comes love then comes marriage then comes the baby and the baby carriage. Ever since you guys decided to elope and are THAT much closer to being husband and wife, it's normal for your thoughts to drift into baby mode. Personnally, I've never had baby fever yet.

Hey Bee, No baby fever yet? Lucky girl.

lol…Yes, I read that baby book along with so many others. Another favorite was the baby book by Dr. Spock, but if you can find something written by Dr. T. Berry Brazelton you will be pleasantly surprised 🙂

Thanks Lynn, I'll add these to my list. (John's gunna be pissed when he finds my stash lol)

I can't say I "suffer" from baby fever, but it seems like everyoen I went to high school with is pregnant now or has kids… so sometimes I get that "I feel left behind!" pang

I'd say your baby ache is coming from the fact that you are ready. Which is awesome because so many women jump into it and are not ready. There is nothing wrong with preparing. Of course,we got pregnant with our first while we were planning to plan:)LOL Of course, there is no right time to get pregnant but the fact that you have the ache tells me that you are ready to be a mother. I am suffering slightly from the baby fever myself, but I have 2. I'm just trying to decide if I am a 2 or 3 baby kind of MOmmy. I see the book you got adn I will make 2 recommendations for when you take the leap…The pregnancy journal ( which is not an actual journal but a day by day whats going on with you ad your baby…my husband and I read it together every night before bed during our pregnancy) and I found the what to Expect books to be almost frightening at times, too clinical so I recommend the Girlfriends Guide to pregnancy, and the first year. They may even have one for pre pregnancy. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you can become a regular follower. I have a feeling we will soon be welcoming you into the Mommy club! I am your newest follower!

I think its normal to have Baby Fever, especially since you are getting ready to get married! I have baby fever, and wedding fever, I was so glad to read this and know that Im not alone in my thoughts and feelings. My boyfriend and I know we are getting married and we have narrowed it down to 2012…but I REALLY want to move that date up to possibly late 2011!!! But we arent officially engaged…but Im sooooooo ready to get this process into gear!!! I agree with your blog when you said you cant talk to your friends about it and I feel the same way…so I was so relieved to be able to share this with the blog buddies!!!

TruthMommy – I'm already following you. Loved the first post of yours I read and subbed immediately. 🙂 Thanks for the book tips. Clinical eh? Frightening eh? GULP. I have a wicked powerful imagination, I don't want anything that's going to make me go insane with worry…
Chelsea – aww. Well don't go comparing yourself to those chicks! If you're not ready that's what matters most "behind" or not!
Green Eyes – we sound like we're in very similar boats. Yeah blogging is such a great outlet! I can tell you guys anything!

No baby fever here either. I do think that reading up in advance is good. I plan to do the same when I eventually catch the fever lol
Momma Drees says
I had my first baby at 22 (now I am 24 and Baby is 2!), and although things have been difficult at times… and so many of our friends are not even married, let alone pregnant! But we are happy we decided to have a baby when we did, then we can enjoy her and life, and enjoy our youngness when she is old enough. We won't be old and crotchety when she is just graduating from high school.

I'm getting baby fever too. This past month I've been peeking on LHCF's motherhood section…smh..I know it's not my time though. I'm only 24 and in med school, so I don't want to start until residency. Plus, my boyfriend and I aren't engaged, yet. Although, we've been actively discussing getting married in 3 yrs and having a baby in 4. This fever must end for me, but everytime 9 see a baby, I melt.

If that book made its way into our house, I think my husband would freak. Nevermind, how I would react.

we'll probably be trying for a baby at the same time then, how fun!

Dani @ OK, Dani says
Yay sss – we can conspire together when time comes! I'll let you know about the book for sure.
Aubrey – that made me cackle laugh lol
Anonymous – John wanted to wait until he finishes residency but that's far too long a wait for me. Good luck when the time comes!
Lindsey – thanks for stopping in!
Momma Drees – I would've loved to start early!!
JC – when the itch comes let me know! lol

Ooooh I never thought of ordering a book. We are still a year away from the wedding though, so I will resist for now. I have baby ache but not baby fever yet. The fiance resists talking about it too because we need to be financially stable first. Psha so practical! hahaha.
Good luck!
Reicha says
OMG, YES, YES, YES. I def have baby fever…no, actually…I have baby pneumonia. I can't wait to have one and now that we are engaged and getting married in a couple of months makes me more baby crazed!
We plan to start to try at the end of next year too. I wish I can push the fast forward button!
P.S Get the hell out my head Dani. My next post was going to touch this topic…
