I was sweaty and annoyed, running from room to room at ShiftCon, trying to ensure the speakers had everything they needed when I saw the invite to the Wrinkle In Time press event and red carpet premiere in Hollywood from Disney pop into my inbox. I stopped on a dime, may or may not have let a shriek escape my lips, and looked around for someone to be ridiculously excited with.
Fast forward to a week or so ago.
While leaving a Marco Polo message to a friend, I popped my email open and saw the agenda. Somehow my severely nearsighted eyes immediately honed in on two words under the interview section: Oprah (full stop) Winfrey. (die time!)
At this point, the universe collapsed in on itself with a flourish of silver sparkles. I died, resurrected, died again, and was ressussitated back to life in a completely newly formed universe where me INTERVIEWING Oprah (my she-ro, my “omgisowannabeher,” my mentor-in-my-head) Winfrey is an actual thing, that is actually going to occur in space-time reality, and not just in a random daydream. I was hoping to see her on the red carpet for the premiere….but now…to have a convo with her.
I’m legit smashing my bucket list rightabout now.
OK, so don’t worry. I’m not going to completely fan girl over her and pull a Tiffany Haddish. I’m going to just remember she’s also getting to meet ME! She’s never met THE Dani Faust before. I’m sure she’ll be thrilled. I’m a treasure.
So, in addition to meeting Mama O, we are interviewing Reese Witherspoon who I feel like I know because I literally watch Legally Blonde monthly, as it is my version of comfort food. I’ll try not to gasp and say “Vote for Elle!” when she walks in. We get to interview Mindy Kaling who is super funny and other stars from the film.
If you’re gagging like I was, prepare to die right now because we’re also interviewing THE Ava DuVernay. ::steadies self::
You guys. ::heavy sigh:: I was an actress for many years. (Considering a return to it, but that’s a different story.) Every actor directs in their head. It’s just a thing. And with Ava’s work… you just don’t even re-direct in your head. Her choices are perfection. She brings perfection from the actors. I just….I can’t wait to talk to her. See her. Feel her vibe.
PS You should totally follow her on twitter. She is #blackgirlmagicunicornawesomeness in human form.
In addition to Wrinkle in Time fabulousness we also get to sneak peek episodes of some new ABC TV shows!
I am completely geeked to meet the first female president, Mellie Grant!!! (#tgit #gladiators where you at!?)
Check out the rest of the awesomeness:

SQUEEEEEEE!
In particular, I’m looking forward to the Splitting Up Together show. I love the two of them.
And the new Shondaland show, I had not heard of, but love law shows, so, yeah.
And love Zach.
And, oh, right, Oprah is beyond lucky! I mean – so beyond lucky. (Also, Mindy is meant to be my bestie, she just doesn’t know it yet, so if you could drop my name a few times and mention how much I love her and her books – just – I’d be so thankful.) 😉
